a Small SUV

I want to sell my car and get a small SUV. I'm looking to spend no more than $5,000 on a small SUV with 70,000 miles or less and no older a model than a 2001. I realize I will have to have a bit of "luck", but my dad is pretty good at auctions.
Does anyone have a good suggestion on what type I should look at? Safety ratings are important to me as well. Thanks!

im in the same boat with you girl! i'd like to find a good deal with less miles than that though. I need to sell my car and try and get one, but it might take a while to find a new car and it'd be hard to be a one car family until then. Ill keep my eyes open, your dad would probably find you a great deal! (then maybe he can help me out...hehe)

I'd like a small SUV with much less than 70,000 miles on it, for sure, but I just don't think I can get a quality small SUV for $5,000 dollars without it having that many miles, or it being a 2001 model or above.
My dad is looking for good deals, and I have no question whether we'll find one eventually, but it is just very difficult when you start talking about any kind of SUV. I have to have a small one though - I can't drive a boat! : )
My dad thinks he can sell my car fairly easily. It really is a good car. If not for the fact it has 100,000 miles on it, I'd keep it. Also though, with my back problems it would be better for me to have an SUV.
Finding a vehicle that keeps its resale value it also tricky, don't you think? I want to be able to get some money out of anything I buy if I have to sell it again.
I hope you can find something that has a high crash safety rate. With two little girls I'm sure that is a high priority. But just that it would be easy to drive would be a plus, huh.
