The trick with garage sale-ing is to only buy the stuff you know you need and will use. Otherwise, you end up with a ton of great finds.....gathering dust! Sometimes you will find treasures, but it's not a guarantee. You have to be in it for the thrill of the possibility of finding something you just can't live without!

My family and I love to garage sale. We have found many good deals over the years. As for the comment above on items feeling dirty in my opinion almost everything is cleanable, what ever I have boughten over the years it's never used until it has received a good scrubbing. If the items are filthy I won't touch those. I do find that most people try to clean up the items before selling for the highest dollar possible. As when buying anything the buyer must be aware of what he/she is getting to avoid getting taken. :)

I think the key to garage sales is to get there early. All the really good stuff tends to get sold very quickly. We've actually had a couple and it's amazing the number of people that are hanging around the driveway about a half hour before the sale is supposed to start.

Actually, I rather avoid garage sales. I may look around but that's that. Somehow, the things feel old and dirty (maybe it's just in my mind :P).
One category that is the exception is second-hand books. I am ok with that. :)
