Senior Citizens

In my city, San Diego, California I cannot help but notice that the senior citizens and their issues have been kicked to the side. Yes their is senior citizen centers with minimal funding, programs there are pretty much non-existent. Senior citizens live on social security and SSI checks that are well below the minimum wages. After they pay their rent, there is not much left over to sustain them until their next check is due. Senior citizens walk the streets of this city, very much alone and lonely. My question is, how can people help these senior citizens, that care about helping them?
