If a son wanted to, could he ask his father to be his best man at his wedding?

I know it isn't traditional, but would it be ok?

I don't see a problem with the father being the best man, as its suppose to be somebody close to you and this would surely be the case. If anyone tries to say anything the future bride and groom can speak and say its our wedding please respect our decisions. I don't see any reason why that would happen in this case.

Thanks, I agree. It is up to the bride and groom. Nobody has said anything to oppose it. I was glad to see so many people respond. Thanks.

I think it would be perfectly fine and what better way to honor your father? If mother's can 'give away' their daughters, why not a father be a best man. If it was my son, I would be very touched to be thought so highly of!

Anything goes in today's world. I know of a woman who had a man stand up for her at her wedding. He was her best friend since childhood. Why not.

yep !! ofcourse it has to be okay, completely okay. If groom want, if son want to make his father best man at his wedding then really it should not be problem at all.Basically in my view being a best man is not at all so mush custom realted things, it is just for fun, so as per our wish definately we can make slight changes into that.

If it's your wedding you can do anything you want to. It's YOUR day.

I don't see why not! I think it would be perfectly fine! :) I think the best man can be anyone the groom wants...it doens't matter if it's a family member, friend, etc as long as that person is very special to them! :)

I don't see any reason why not. I'd be proud to stand up for my son. It would mean a lot to me. I also would know I meant a lot to my son.

Why not? There really isn't a rule against it. If I was given the honour I would be estatic.
