Are you willing to work in a graveyard shift?

No, I don't like to work in a graveyard, LOL:).
This question is often asked to people who are applying for a job that is open 24/7 or operates at night. Graveyard shift is usually from 11pm-5am. Here in our country, call centre people are always asked that kind of question because of the 12 hour time difference in US and 14 hours during DST.
If you will apply or applying for a job, are you willing to work in a graveyard shift? Why?

It's a horrible job, and I know it because I have worked in that shift and it almost killed me. I had a tough time and I promised I would never work on night shifts. The worst part is sleeping during day time. It just doesn't happen to me. Another thing was, I never get the chance of meeting my friends. Everything was going against my nature. An then finally after 1 & half years of horrible torture, I called it quits. Had to give up.

i have tried to work at a graveyard shift but it is really hard, i had to quit my old job. eventhough it pays a lot, it is totally not worth it. You are so tired and you will not be able to spend time with your friends. Its like living your life in a reverse manner...plus it affects your health. I can only work from between 8am until 12 midnight.

if the pay is right then yes! i'm currently working in a call center right now. the compensation is great, my work is fun and it's just so light and easy. i've worked fore two years already in the same company. as long as i can sleep for 6 to 8 hours a day...i am okay. at first, i had a difficulty adjusting but in the long run i was able to sleep no matter what time will i start. i take vitamins and eat well. i even go night outs when im on a rest day.

I used to work the graveyard shift at Denny's. It was fun. It was also hard. I had a new baby at home, and my husband worked 16 hour days. I would work all night, then be up all day with the baby. I did that for over a year. It ended up being bad news for my marriage. I should have been home in bed with my husband, then somebody else wouldn't have gotten there.

it really hard to work in a graveyard schedule your day of work is night and the hour of your sleep is in the morning sounds abnormal but many call center agent earned as much as the regular earnings than in a dayshift. But for me id rather work in a normal shift which is daytime. Im a mother now and i want to be with my son at night want to be with his side unlike in graveyar shift you can't do that because you need to sleep.

Yes, I am willing to work the grave yard shift because sometimes a family only has one car and limited income your spouse can work the day shift and the grave yard shift you can work and you don't need a babysitter or a second car.

Those who are working in Call Centres are expected to work in graveyard shift. It is very difficult for starters, but once you are adjusted to it things become bit easier. There are other sectors and industries as where graveyard shifts are in place. Regarding likings I think most people will not like to work in that kind of shifts.

Me too i don't like to work in graveyards either. lol:) Frankly i like to sleep at night and though i had lot of job offers for graveyard shift i don't do it as i am not yet ready for it as i don't want to disturb my biological clock and tend to fall sick if i do as evrythingh gets off balance. One's appetite. sleeping patterns, health, work schedule everything gets affected. Morever at night i like to be on mylot forum before i sleep so i don't want tochange that.

I am a security guard for just few months yet and I have already tried to be on duty for the three shifts. I work at a call center and there are more agents during the third shift from 10pm to 6am Philippine time as in other countries that is daytime. It is like day in the office and I like it because we receive night differential LOL! It's not actually like graveyard because there are many people, it seems that there are more during this shift than the day shift.

That would be difficult for me at first because I've never been that much of a night owl. I'm used to going to bed at least by 11pm or midnight, and once upon a time even saying that would have sounded strange to me since I went to bed a lot earlier some nights. *laugh* But I think that I could become acclimated to a graveyard shift if I had to or if it were for a job that I enjoyed and/or paid a nice sum of money. It might be nice to have some time at home during the day. THe main thing that would be the hardest for me would be trying to sleep during the day. I would have to make sure that I could cover up any windows in my bedroom, because I really can't sleep when the light starts coming in. I have a really hard time with that. I've really almost never slept in the daytime unless I've been really, really sick. So it would definitely take some adjustment.

i am working on a graveyard shift.. less traffic, sun's not too hot... a lot of young people as co-workers... it's just difficult to adjust to a shifting work schedule.. they're ruining your body clock which might have a serious long term effect... you also have to adjust to every one else's schedule.

Yes. I'm currently working on graveyard shift. Aside from a part time job during the day. Even before, when I used to stay at home and have nothing to do. I can't sleep at night. It's not insomnia or any, it's just my body clock, I guess..

hello. i tried working ona graveyard shift for 8 months, it was quite hard at first coz you need a lot of adjustments especially in your sleeping habits. but in the end, there is a night differential added in your income, so its great. i would still love to work on a graveyard shift.

Yes I worked this shift often while growing up. I actually liked it a lot and would sometimes seek out this shift. It mays more and there are zero bosses breathing down your back. The day shifts are usually the busiest and all the brass comes by so you have to be perfect a t all times. Graveyard shift has lots of perks.

I've worked graveyard before. I actually didn't mind it once I had a set schedule and got used to sleeping during the day. I've also worked swing shifts, that I *really* hated.

i will never opt for working in a night shift.its really tiring and your whole day goes waste when you are sleeping when most of your friends are awake. its also medically proven that night shift in long-term increases the risk of several stress-related deseases.
