How much has solving problems helped you to improve your game ? Obviously if you are satisfied with the kind of progress you are making then everything is fine. But my take on this is that eventually solving problems (or watching videos) will become somewhat ineffective to get to the next level if it is what you are going for. Since that I am a chess teacher and coach, I do have many ideas on this topic but there is no fit for all recipe.

I'm rated 1700 by the US Chess Federation and stopped playing tournaments about a year and a half ago. The best way to improve at chess is, simply put, to spend time on it. Reading books is not a waste of time if you actually think about what you're reading and take something from it to apply to your game. Aside from that, you should play as much as you can and go back over your play and review it, trying to find mistakes, etc.

Practice will help you to improve. If you can find someone to play the game with you will in time improve. Try to find if there is a chess club, that could help you to improve alot! It is an involved game with strategy and future planning based on opponents possible moves. Good luck!!
Have tried to mail you here, it will not go through, will answer you as soon as it is fixed!!

I am soory to tell you that the only way to improve your chess skills is to read some good books and not only one time. At the same time of course you hae to play a lot and try what you have read so as to improve your skills.
