I just love playing chess and find it gr8 game. I keep constantly looking for techniques to improve my chess. I also take part in tournaments. I agree that chessmaster and PersonalChessTrainer are very good training softwares softwares. I also like fritz and chessmaster. But, i prefer Kasparov Chessmate of all softwares for playing chess.

The chessmentor and the personalchesstrainer are good software.
Fritz 10 is a very good software that fits the play to your level.
You can use it even if you just finished to learn the rules of the game.
It suggests you the moves and gives you comments.
It has got a databae of one million games.
Have a look at : http://www.ukgamesshop.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=lcc

What you say is good for beginners. However the best professional chess program is Fritz the present version is 9. then there is Junior, and chessmaster. As far as free programs are concerned there are tons of them a few really good and strong. Arasan, GNU ,tiger are a few i recollect. have a search for free chess down loads and WOW! there goes the list. It is really fun collecting it!

I would also recommend Chessbase. It contains about 6 millions of games that you can play through. Some of them have comments. You can also use Fritz together with Chessbase. You just import the Fritz engine to Chessbase and let it evaluate the current position on board.
