Starbucks at home

Is it me or does the Starbucks Coffee at home never quite have the same taste as the one you get at the coffee shop.
I use a decent coffee maker, a non paper filter, and distilled water. I've even tried variations in the strength of the brew, and while it is still a good cup of coffee, it doesnt quite measure up to the 2.00 Venti you get at the local shop. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have a starbucks machine at home, use starbucks espresso roast, filtered water and it still doesn't taste the same. it is cheaper than buying it there though (our venti is closer to $4).

When you make the coffee at home you are using just a regular coffee maker. If you buy the actual Espresso roats and use an espresso machine, it tastes exactly like the real thing. If you ever buy their regular Starbuck blend coffee of the dayt and buy the same stuff to brew at home, it usually tastes pretty close - especially if you have filtered water.

I can't stand Starbucks coffee, so I don't know. When I am there I order the peppermint hot chocolate.

I have that problem in general. I get Gevalia, which to me is the best. Sometimes it turns out great. Other times, soso. But restaurant coffee is always good, especially Elias Bros and Mcdonals's premium Roast. I think itr may have to do with the fact that coffee shops and restaurants use premeasured bags.
