How get a one year old to drink from a sipper cup?

I have a one-year-old boy who hates drinking from a sipper or spout cup. He loves his bottle a lot. I've tried numerous cups and stuck at it for days at a time, trying to make him drink out of them and only giving him the cup not the bottle. He just doesn't want to use it and ends up hysterical. I leave the cup in his play area all day and he picks it up and chews on it but thats about it. what can I do?
