I just cant fight Sleep!

Guys, medical data and general survey indicated that an average adult needs 6 to 8 hours of sleep. I tend to sleep almost on an average 12 to 14 hours a day. Half of my day is wated. Iam not able to attend classes and in a holistic sense it is geting to my nerves and causing depression occassionally. Please help me with any tips as to how I can cut down my sleep. Just for the record I sleep at around 3:30 am and get up like 14:00 pm.
