hmm..i dont think its about enough. but then it would depend on the amount of work that you do. here in the philippines, i work as a nurse and work for about 160 hours for 4 weeks and it pays around 8-9thousand pesos..which is approximately $200...well what do u know??? pays lower also?? which is why we would want to go abroad to earn more. and that 8-9 thou per month thats about almost the highest pay a nurse can get here in the philippines =)

What is the exchange rate ;to dollars or pounds. I was under the impression English teachers in China were highly paid and in demand. I am not sure what a teachers salary is here in S.Africa, but now that I think of it, there does not seem to be as many complaints as there used to be.

Your selery is about 155$. I don't know what you can do with it in China. Closest I've been to China is Thailand - and 150$ was not enough for a month (then again, I was living in hotels and been traveling a lot as a tourist).
Can you save money? Is there anything left at the end of the month?
Here, in Israel, if you work for 11 hours a day, you get about 52$ for that day minnimum. So in a month, if I work for 24 days, I can earn 24*52$=1248$.
It might sound a lot, but here it wouldn't be enough for me to live in a tent...
If you are an english teacher, you can make more money by translating and writing abstracts for books. Try www.shvoong.com/aff-CC0B.
There are many other options to use your talents for more profit...
If you want to hear (well, it is more like read) about them, I would be glad to help.
About your question - the reasonability of your salary depends on what you can do with it where you live.
As a matter of fact, I would like to know what it is, if you don't mind.
