The remorse of the christmas and new year spending are sinking in now for real. All those credit card bills comes in, some people made loans to sustain them over this very expensive period, without actually knowing if they could afford it. Even here in the UK, the so co called credit scoring system is a sham. People get more credit on a combination of credit cards, overdrafts, mortgages and loans than they can actually afford. Mortgage advisors and loan brokerages are the biggest problem in my view. Most people like to fool themselves that they can afford the extra outgoings, by temporary increasing the current income with a loan. This temporary financial relief gives the illusion that everything will be fine. Credit card companies are too blame as well, giving away credit cards and in the fear of losing customers gives you a credit card way beyond your repayment abilities. This is why January is such a depressing time period for most people. The reality of all those new debts slowly starts to sink in. But what can you do? No matter what you do, you will still sit with the problem?! Sure, make another loan to consolidate your other debts is a temporary solution again, but is it really worth it? a loan to cover other loans? Debt is bad enough as it is, and I don't think its worth the hassle. Rather start my own income streams, supplement what I have. Now this is where all these internet scams out there scary the daylights out of me. So many quick rich schemes promises the world, but offer nothing out there. In the UK, if you're really in a grind, there's a government legislation where you can get an IVA. This allows you to pay unsecured loans off withouth stretching your monthly limit, and some debt gets written off. Note, this is for ''unsecured'' loans only. This doesn't work for loans secured on your car, home or land! Again consider this as the last resort, since it means you have to give up things like Sky, broadband and other things you got accustomed to. So what is your thoughts on this? Anyone?

You are absolutely right sarah22. Sometimes the idea of 'it's only once a year' makes people go crazy in spending. At the end of the day, then you see so many toys and you don't know where to store them anymore. Some of the toys are only being played once or twice by the kids, after that they don't even bother to look at them anymore. So much for a one time spending, eh. Thanks for your response sarah22. I have a lot more to learn when it comes to spending money, I guess.:)

LOL, quite true mamatika. The only problem is, even going back to Indonesia would cost more than just doing a charity in where we are right now. I miss Jakarta already. When are you going back home, mamatika?!
