Solo or party

5 years ago, I enjoyed playing D&D type games where I can create a good character and go off adventuring alone. Now, with many people with the same interests, I prefer playing with friends and create a strong party. But it all depends on how serious a party member is willing to play. Sometimes it really bugs me if one of the members is trying to do stupid things and distrupts the entire game.
Which would you prefer?

I used to play the game many years ago, but was drawn into the live action role play instead. Now I spend time in costume and in character with a whole load of others in a field and in the woods some weekends.
I am currently playing a dark elf with some very nasty little magical abilities - lol

Depends who the type of friends whom I hang out with. At times it can be boring because they create such overpowering characters that aren't even D&D legal. They just combine classes and make loopholes and when I ask them if it's legal they'll just say that nothing in any of the books says I can't combine them. So it's like Krirrin tagging along with Son Gokou, you're just there for the ride. Have you seen a level 16 monk/fighter/cleric take down an ancient dragon within just 2 rounds? That lvl16 monk/fighter/cleric is too powerful because 1 blow of his 4 normal attacks causes 70+ damage. He puts epic characters to shame. That's why whenever I have free time from my work I call my other friends we just play and exclude the overpowering ones.
