I've always enjoyed Peter vanInwagen, John Polkinghorne, and as far as rationalists, probably Rene Descartes. Oh, and you can't forget about the ancients too: Aristotle and Plato, in particular.

I have to say that something about Descartes's philosophies interest me a great deal, the thought of stripping everything away and building up things you can prove one by one is fascinating.
I always became frustrated when I was studying philosophy though, because I found myself wondering why these people's thoughts and writings are so worshipped and billions of others are ignored.

There are lots of good philosophers or well-known ones. It's up to you what you take for as good. I don't want to drop names as I tend to be an eclecticist. I just choose some of their ideas.
