because of their batting position and the ease of expectations, infact they are not considered as complete batsman (and they really are not complete batsmen) hence they get a license to cut and loose, gilchrist being master of all, and now dhoni will beat his records !

it is not so that wicket keepers are always explosive batsmen.
it is so that the wicketkeeper has the most knowledge of the pitch so he plans his moves accordingly.
he is the one who has to concentrate on every ball after the batsman so he is adept in batting too as he is behind the stumps all the time.

well friend...wicket keepers of alltime are not explosive batsmen....there are keepers who are defensive also...
but most times the wicket keepers selected on the basis of not their keeping skill...the selectors are more keen on their batting...
if it is an oneday match then the selectors looks to play an aggressive wicketkeeper batsman than a skilled wicket keeper
now adayz the oneday matches are more than tests...so the keepers who gets fame are aggressive batsmen
that is the reason why the wicket keepers of all the times are so explosive batsmen
