Hi, aidonia--no I haven't been to Greece yet, but one day I would love to..along with the Ancient Egyptian culture, I've always been in love with the ancient Greek culture as well...I was practically weaned on Greek mythologies, and did study in my later years Greek art...I've also studied probably the world's greatest philosophers like Sophocles, the Greek dramatists, like Euripides...so I guess it would just be natural for me to want to go to Greece--hope to go there one day!! And who knows...might visit you?

I go to Greece about once a year to visit my in-laws. I know a lot of random stuff about your country.. like Zara has reasonably priced alterations and it's harder to adopt a child in Greece than it is in the USA. Because my only connection is my husband, his family, and his friends, my experiences have revolved around food, family events, beaches, soccer games, political events, the family business (a jewelry shop) and family drama. I love it though. I just wish I could go for a few months to study Greek and make some friends of my own.

Giasas aidonia,
I go to Greece very regularly to the island of Crete where I hope to live in a few years time. It is such a beautiful (omorfi) country and every time I leave I can't wait to return.
I just wish I could learn the language better as my Greek is not coming along as quickly as I would wish. Never ming, Sigha Sigha.
I hope the fires that have caused so much damage to your country and people are brought under control very soon.
Best wishes, J.

Aidonia - I went to Petra too and loved it. The church there is just gorgeous - with baroque-style Byzantine architecture. The houses are like something out of a fairytale. I have a cousin who now lives in Mytilini (in the main town) but we are originally from Arahova (in Sterea Ellada).

As I've just written in one of the discussions you started, I've been in Athens 20 years ago. Unfortunately I and my friends stayed only two days, but I could see the most beautiful temple in the world: the Parthenon.
My son is only 7 and I'm very busy now, but I hope to come back to Athens in future, I need seeing again Parthenon and the other temples in the Akropolis.
I'd like to visit Greece, Malta and Crete very much.

Your country is beautiful for its scenery, hospitality, food and other good and beautiful things. I have been twice. I would live there were I to find a place at a reasonable price. I;m looking. While in Athens I unfortunately fell ill.The hospital was crowded. The halls full of people. Yet the speed at which patiants were seen and administered to astounded me. If one has to be sick while on holiday I recommend Greece (lol)
In my bookshelf are two volumes of Greek Mythology. Often I will look up just one thing at a time. A tour of the Greek Islands is a must. Each one has its charm. Each one is just a little bit different from the other. A sense of peacefulness and calm falls on the visitor. In busy Athens the visitor will feel comfortable and relaxed. Greek History is as ancient as time itself. I recommend and praise it to everyone I meet.

Hi, I am an italian archaeologist, well more exactly an archaeozoologist... in other words I study animal bones coming from archaeological sites in order to reconstruct ancient societis in an economic and social point of view. With my university I work on the remains coming from a minoan site in Crete, so I went to Greece (and particularly to Crete) several times. Next summer we will have a long campaign durng july and august. I like so much Crete and cretan people, and I visited Hiraklion, the archaeological sites of Knossos, Aghia Triada, Festos, Mallia etc. but I also enjoied cretan beaches on the north and south coast. I visited Athens too, of course, and the ruines of Corynth and sites as Orchomenos and Micene...

That is funny you asked this. I was just noticing you are from Greece and I have never got to visit. I would love to though. I love to travel, so to see new countries is always a good time. You only live once, so you might as well try to see everything you can. I hope to come visit Greece someday, and if I get to. I am looking forward to it very much.
