Have you ever been abused by a customer in the workplace?

I got a doozy today. I opened up the comment box, and this is what I found: "Next time I come into *store name*, I'm going to be cracking some skulls. If I hear another one of your staff, or "team members" as you egotystical pea-brained wankers call them, telling me that this is "not their area", I will break their neck. Get a real job, you brainless idiots." Well... where do I even start? What really got me is the fact that this man assumes that because we work in a hardware store, we are idiots who are not able to get a 'real job'. However, 60% of us are university students who are using the job to get through uni, 30% are people who have retired from a prosperous tradesman career and are just earning extra money on the side, and only about 10% have a full time job there. The fact that this MORON (who, by the way, spelled 'pea-brained', 'egotystical' and, lol, 'IDIOTS' wrong) thought that he was better than us really ground at me. Usually customers don't get to me, no matter how harsh they are, but this one really did. So have you ever had a complaint or had to deal with an angry customer that actually really got under your skin, that you weren't able to brush off as easily as you usually do?

I used to be a long distance telephone operator and we used to get abused all the time, and he had to be polite because at times we had supervisors listening in on our lines, it is very hard to take.

Oh no, I can imagine. I am a very hot-headed person, and I wouldn't be able to take that kind of abuse over the phone...

Well, I think this is part of your job (to recieve abuses and be insulted by clients) some clients sometimes they know everything. They believe once one is somewhere, the person must be all-rounder. Sometimes they want to strech you even beyond limit. Only what one need to do is be patient and let the endurance limit extend beyond every reasonable doubt. Increase you PR and you will love the insult when they come.
