In Malaysia, when one mentions about accountancy, the most likely question one will get is, "So, you are an ACCA grad?"
However, there are many professional accounting qualifications for budding accountants to choose from. One is ACCA, which focuses on financial accounting, and the other is CIMA, where the main emphasis is on management accounting.
What are the differences between these two qualifications?
My opinion is that the emphasis on ACCA is more onto financial reporting based on figures- many calculations.
CIMA however puts more weightage onto the management of a business- formulating the best solutions based on information from accounts.
Which would you prefer?
