Can trees die of old age?

This is something that I just started wondering the other week, it's a question I cannot seem to explain to myself, maybe someone here will be able to answer it. Can trees die of old age? I can't recall ever hearing of a tree dying of old age (not that is an urgent news bulletin) but it has led me to question if it's possible for a tree to die simply becase its too old. Obviously we have all seen dead trees but they can be attributed to interference with the tree in some way, fire or poor soil condition for example. So if a tree was planted in perfect condidtions and it recived just the right amount of rainfall and the soil fertility never changed and it was out of human influence, would it eventually die? I don't know. If trees do have a life span then would imagine that it would be one of, if not The longest life span of any life form on the planet. your thoughts?

Here's a link that tells the specifics of how long different trees live. I'm taking the time to type in the link for you and everyone else. It really is an interesting topic! http://www.arthurleej.com/a-oldtrees.html I hope that link works!!! :)

Definitely they do die of old age. Different species of trees live different lengths of time. Some are really short like only ten years and some are really old like 500 years. There's a website that lists remarkable trees in my state. It's pretty neat to see and read about really old trees!

I suppose at the back of my mind I did believe that a tree would eventually die, as infinite or eternal life is something that simply doesn't exist, I ask this question simply for the fact that I, personally have never experienced anything to do with a tree ying of old age. I will be sure to check hat website out. thanks.

Yes, trees die at the end of their life span like other living things.
