My husband almost got hospitalized this week as his cold turned into Pneumonia (spelling ?) Now I am battling his cold. What things do you do to help fight off your cold? We have been doing lots of chicken soup, OJ, hot tea, water and I love vicks vapor rub.

You must use homemade chicken soup. Garlic will help keep you from getting the cold as well as lots of fruit. I honestly can not remember when I have had a cold last.It has been years ago. When my kids were small, they would get a cold about once a winter. I always thought that they would pick up the germs at school. Homemade chicken soup helped alot to keep food down and that alone will give you the strength to feel better. OJ is something that we avoided if we were in bed alot as it tends to irrate GERD.If you are going to be up and moving around it is ok. Herb tea is also great for many illnesses. You are correct abou the Vicks Vapor Rub and remember the vaporizer with vicks or kaz in it. Put it close to the bed for better breathing. Hope you and your husband feels better soon. Pheumonia is a serious illnes be very careful. I have athma and lung problems. I get pheumonia easily and not as a result of a cold or the fle. It has weakened my lungs drastically.

I forgot to mention that I spray the door knobs, telephones and computer keyboard and mouse each day with lysol.

Keep doing what you are doing, also get plenty of rest. Get a can of Lysol and start spraying the bathroom, doorknobs, phones, tv remotes, things like that. The lysol will kill the germs and help keep you from passing the viris back and forth. Good Luck and I hope you both feel better soon. I love Vick's vapor rub too. It smells so good.

The only thing you can do is make yourself a little less miserable and try not to get sicker. What you are doing is perfect. I can't use the vapor rub, it closes me up instead of opening my pores. The only thing I can add is a hundifier, lots of liquids and plenty of rest.

Everybody in my house had a cold at the same time. We finally got over it but I felt like it wasn't ever going to go away. We took cold meds, drank OJ, ate chicken noodle soup, and ran a vicks vaporizer in the room.

Colds are a real bummer and what we do to help get through them is pretty much what you are doing. We have found something on the market that is natural and it does help and it was created by a second grade school teacher. The name of it is Airborne and you can get it at Walmart or any pharmacy. It's fairly cheap and can be found in the cold and flu section. Hope this helps and hope you all feel better soon ;-)

When a cold starts in our family, I swear by Mucinex. I had a bad cold over Labor Day weekend last year. By the time 'Labor Day" day had arrived it was gone. I was so lucky because we moved 2 days later.
