It's hard to make a sweeping generalization about all people and all faiths when it comes to interfaith marriage. Some faiths believe that their's is the only true faith and all others are inferior. Two people of differing faiths who each felt that way would in my opinion face greater difficulties in their marriage than if they were of the same faith. Similar issues that challenge a marriage exist relative to politics and race, for example. Two dedicated people can overcome any challenges, whereas two lesser committed people who have much in common might not be able to make a go of it.

I think interfaith marriages should be welcomed, if I am right Indian govt has started a scheme of rewarding people who marry oputside their faith. Its the best thing to encourage secularism and put an end ot conservative beliefs. Only thing id partners entering such alliances should respect both faiths and not try and convert each other to their faith. I have few cousins who have amrried people from different relifgion and are now trying to teach their kids about both the cultures nd traditions. Its so cute when in the same prayer room kids read from bible and Ramayan togehter, they sing hymns and Bhajans with same zest and faith without any malice.

Well, if you take the Bible as God's Word, in 2 Corinthians 6:14 (NIV), it says, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? I do believe in having friendships with people of other faiths. I believe a good Christian can be a great example to his or her friends. I also believe the saying, "Love the sinner; hate the sin." If you're looking to marry, I think you should talk to your Pastor or Priest about this concern.
