I have the same problem. When I first joined I gained about 15 friends and everytime they posted a new discussion I would receive an email so I would log on and post a comment to help them, but no-one does that for me so I stopped doing it and now I just reply to general topics that appeal to me or that I feel I have a point of view about.

When I first joined, I had the same problem as you. But I posted on a lot of discussions and people got to know me. Then they asked to be my friend. Having a lot of friends helps sometimes especially if you get the ones that will comment on your topics. Its hard to comment on everything because we all have different likes and dislikes. I have a hard time coming up with discussions so I mainly post on other peoples. So be patient and eventually you will get lots of responses.

I find it quite hard too. I often post something I think people will be interested in - and get no responses. I do try and read all my friends discussions though - that helps a lot - though I admit sometimes I miss them because I can't be on here so much and I just don't have the time to do it. Good luck anyway.

you could put that as your title everytime and get loads of begging apology responses :) but they might catch on, go for the comic approach but with a serious twist, like if you had to kill bush with an acme invention would it be the giant 100 ton anvil or the big slingshot and why?
:D

I have been visiting this forum for just two days. The reponses I got is only 3, not very encouraging. I wrote at least 50 words in my discussions and in reponse to the massages posted. I wish my writings may attract more attention.

I do not think that you are doing anything wrong. It is just that so many people are creating topics that other posts get pushed to another page where they may not see yours right away. Sometimes it takes a little while to find a post of another person. I still have plenty of posts that have not gotten any replies either. It could also be that your topic was already created or that people are not interested in the topic. I am sure you get more responses as you go along. I wouldn't worry too much.

My friendly advice to you is keep the proportion of new topics to responces as 1:10
Respond atleast ten topics of others and then go for just starting one new discussion.
Before adding any discussion make thorough study on other top scoring members topics.
Try to learn the method & art of topics.
Soon will start getting high responses.
OK?

Yes you are definitely doing something wrong and that something is that wour topic doesnt have that level of topic which mylot users want. Grow your level of posting. Post something decent. Dont make kiddy posts like your favourite color.

I try to come up with unique topics that I know I would respond to. Then I do a search to see if anyone else has posted that topic and what kind of response they received.
I also try to make my initial post tell why I'm posting my topic and then ask two or three direct questions, hoping that I won't get a lot of yes or no answers.
I still post many times and receive no responses or just a few and then sometimes I'm shocked when I post a topic that I think will get a great response and only have a couple responses!
It's very hard to judge what will or won't get responses to! Just keep posting and hoping you'll get replies. Good luck!

Your not doing anything wrong nor you are the only one experiencing this problem. I also posted some topics which did not receive any response. At first i was disgusted and ask why is this so, have i done anything wrong. Later on i realize the reason. Mylot members is currently at 60,000, a lot of this members are online everyday and posting topics almost every second, your currently posted topic will be buried by other users topic in no time. If you will imagine it and compare the odds of your topic to be found you'll realize that its slim. Unless, you have tons of friends that will gladly respond to your topics giving your topic a greater chance to be found in "Today's hottest Discussion" link.

I don't think there are things you can do wrong. You just have to have some luck that some guys with a lot of friends jump on it or that it is a topic that interests a lot or people. Sometimes you think this is really interesting, I'll get a lot of responses but sometimes it isn't for others or they don't know about it so they can't or won't answer.
