Time taken to finish a book

It took me about 1 month and 2 weeks to finish a very interesting story book and it took me about 6 months to finish any other books. My reading rate depends on the plot of the story. My friend, who is a hardcore bookworm, can finish a 500 page story book that he borrowed in 4/5 days...couldn't imagine what else he did in his free time.
The thing is that if I finish a story book quickly, I will have limited things to do on my free time and I have to start thinking of buying a new one.
Do you limit yourself when reading a very good story book?

If it's a really good book I'll read it in maybe 2-3 evenings (the only reading time I get is when I go to bed) but if it's hard going and difficult to get into I generally take a few weeks. I've never taken more than a month to read anything. Mind you I am one of those who will read cereal packets if there are no books handy

if it's an interesting book, i wouldn't be able to put it down until i've turned all the pages! one month would be too long to hold the excitement.

It takes me a very long time to read. 6 to 15 minutes per page on a novel, 15 to 30 minutes per page on a textbook.
I can read an audiobook in a couple of days because I enjoy hearing the story. But regular books, no matter how much I enjoy them I can't read all that quickly.
I don't limit myself on purpuse. I'm dyslexic and that makes it harder to get through books quickly. I am very thankful for audiobooks or I'd hardly read anything at all.

I read about a page a minute, depending on how 'difficult' the book is. I'm usually done with a standard book in 2-3 days, reading about an hour or two every night. In the past I usually sat down with a stack of books and would read for hours on end during weekends, but these days I get frustrated if I spent too much time reading.

Like you said, it kind of depends on the book. I'm a pretty fast reader and i've got a lot of time on my hands, hence the mylot posting. I read the Da Vinci Code in two day, Beloved by Toni Morrison in a week, that was a tough read at a little over 300 pages. But, it took me over two months to finish Democracy in America by Alexis de Toqueville because it was extremely difficult to read and I had to reread pages because i didn't know what the heck he was talking about. I actually plan on reading it again soon.

Erm..wow, I guess I am weird. I've finished a little over a thousand page book in a bite over a day..I was really proud of myself when I did that.
I don't limit nor time myself, I just notice how long it takes me to finish books. I probably should limit myself a bit, seeing as I read faster than I can supply books for..but ah well..
My range seems to be in pages instead of how interesting or good the book is though (Note there are exceptions to this). Two hundred to three hundred pagers I can read withn one to two hours. Three or four hours tops. Five or six hundreds it usually only takes me four hours. The only things that take me a longer than that seem to be seven hundred page books and up..which can take a few days depending how busy I am.

No I don't. I really love to read books, novels. When I do start one with a very nice topic, I think I just drop it down if I'm really very hungry or need to relieve myself. I'm a bookworm myself. I could remember during my high school days that I have to hide 2 dozen of books from my father since I read a lot after school 'til 3am in the early morning coz I have to finished all of it in 2 weeks time. Though I did suffer the consequences afterwards since I have to wear a correctional eyeglasses for a year because of eye problem. Nowadays, I try to be sensitive of my eyes, I don't want to wear anymore glasses at anytime.

I try to limit myself, if it is really good, and I don't want to finish it too soon. But, sometmes, that is just impossible. If the book turns out to be sooooo good, it will take me a few hours to read it (approx. 500 pages). Sometimes, if it is not that interesting, I will prolong it for a few days. And, I will end up having to wait a couple days to finish a book, if I am too busy. However, in general, I prefer not to wait too long to finish a book, because I start to forget what I read before, and then I might also get bored.

Well my brother, it depends that how much you are engaged with reading if reading is someone's hobyy then he can read a book of many pages in couple of days beside working hours, but if someone dont have any interest in reading a book then he can not finish a book of lesser pages in just couple of days. It is necessary to have an interest in any thing you do or want to do, for reading if you dont have any interest then it will definintely take time to finish a book of even 100 pages because non reader can not read and understand frequently the sentences the writer wants to describe.

a books a book....and i cant limit my reading per day......a good book especially makes me want to finish it faster....just to know the story and how it ended,blah,blah....iv actually read really huge books in a 2days.....and sometimes really small books for weeks....at the end it all depends on the book[the quality not the size]

Well, when my classes aren't in session, it's nothing for me to read 100 pages in an evening if it's a very good, engaging, story. It really depends, I think, on how interested you are in the story and how well the story flows. Also, the majority of adult novels that are popular are written on a fifth-to-sixth-grade reading level. If you've got a collegiate reading level, it won't take you that long to get through, say, a Nora Roberts. When the semester's going full swing, I might get in a few minutes of pleasure reading a day if I'm lucky in which case a little 200-300 page paperback might take me a month or more.

I can finish 2 or 3 books a week if they are really exciting. However, my latest book has taken me almost 5 months. Not that it isn't a good book, but I had LASIK surgery in September, and I'm still struggling with reading. It has been really hard on me to be unable to read like I want to. I've used a glass, but that's a real pain.

No, I don't limit my time. When my boyfriend's brother, bought me Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, I finished it in like 7 hours. If I get a good book that I find interesting & can't put down, I'll read it through and not put it down until I'm done with it. Mainly the only time that I do put it down is to get something to drink or to use the restroom.

I don't limit myself..but that's probably because I don't have much time to read. I work a lot of hours and also go to high school. I also spend time hanging out with friends on weekends. But I value any time that I get to read. Normally it takes me about 2-3 weeks to finish a book that is about 300-400 pages. That doesn't seem like that long considering I don't have much free time.
