I have been in Sydney and Melbourne. They are two nice cities but different. Melbourne is more easy and friendly with a perfect system of public transport. Sydney is a bit more elegant and has one of the wonderers of the new world. the Opera House. Probably the best thing to do is... stay few months in Sydney and few months in Melbourne.

i have been to australia last year. it is an amazing country to me. i visited cydeny melourne and canberra. they are all very nice. in my opinion, i like melborne most. too many people in cydney and too few in canberra. but i prefer the countryside of melborne, very beautiful and quiet. i still remember the day i was lying on the mornington beach, enjoyed the sunshine....i hope that i can visit other cities of australia ASAP.

There really is no comparison as each has its own unique features not like the other. My favourite would be Melbourne. I've only lived in Sydney but I've holiday to both Brisbane and Melbourne. Whilst I'm amazed by Sydney's weather, beaches and cosmopolitan lifestyle, I find Melbourne very charming. It has great culture, boulevard of cafe's and street dining. Stunning architecture. Great transport way for pedestrian and uncanny friendly people. Simply magic!

I am a Melbourne gal and totally love Melbourne. I lived in Sydney years ago and its really not a nice place to live. Their air quality is horrible compared to Melbourne, they have freeways that go nowhere. It is badly planned and overcrowded. Sydney is a nice place to holiday, but not to live.
I have also lived temporarity in both Adelaide and Perth and neither do much for me.

I have a total bias towards Melbourne. I was born here and have lived here all my life. I do like Syndey, Hobart, Adelaide and Canberra - all for different reasons, but Melbourne is so cosmopolitan. Melbourne is modern and yet serene in it's old buildings though the modern ones tower over them. Old and new live harmoniously. I love the hustle and bustle of the city. The tranquil beauty of the nearby hills, valleys and mountains. And no other Australian city can compete with the restaurants or the shopping! LOL.

I reckon that the best city in Australia is melbourne because it is really the best of both worlds. It has some of the finest hospitals and schools in the area and it is the sporting capitAL in the world. I love to spend time in this lovely city because firstly, I was born here and I love venturing outside the big city; to the countryside and the like. It is great how getting to the country is oinly a few minutes away and it is great to have a break in some scenery once in a while. Also, the city is quite nicely designed. There are lots of landmarks and the city is not heavily populated like some other cities in Australia and around the world. I wouldn't trade living here for anything. It is abundant in a lot of things and the people in this part of the world are quite nice to you if you are lost or just basically anything. Hopefully more people will be able to visit my city, Melbourne.
