I am 30 year old mom with three kids and I am going back to school. This is very difficult for me. I was not very book smart in school and that hasn't changed. I know there has been other people in this position. How did you do it? By the way my children are 1, 5, and 6.

Oh wow--- Forst off let me say congratulations! What a great step in life for you. I went back to college as an adult also. But I had only 1 child.. I won't lie to you- It was very hard! You do not want to take time away from your kids but you must.. Think of the payoff.. Keep remembering that throughout the whole thing. My advice would be to make as many friends as you can in your core classes.. These younger classmates will surely help you out if you need it. There always seems to be group projects-- so its good to know people. Try to stay on campus and do homework or study-- You can take it home and say you will do it when the kids go to bed-- but alot of things happen and you dont have find the time-- or have the quiet that you need. Go to the professors if you need the extra help in the beginning of the semester.. I was pretty lucky and did great in college-- I wont say I didn't spend many of night ripping my hair out trying to figure things out. The profs think more of you if you are prepared and they expect more if you are an adult. But most of all HAVE FUN! and never forget you will so better the life of your children with a college education.. GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks for that! Fortunately I have all of my core classes already. Done that 8 years ago. I am trying to get into the dental hygiene program or nursing program and had to take Anatomy 1 and 2 and that is what is kicking my butt right now. I managed to get a C in A&P 1 but I just started A&P 2. If either of the programs are this hard then I just don't know if I can do it!

I went to university as a 38 year old Mum, unfortunately my financial situation changed and after a year I had to return to work. The year that I was there I'm not going to say was easy, juggling study with motherhood and running a household sure is a challenge. I hope you have people around you that support and encourage you. Congratulations on going back and stick with it, it will be worth it in the long run.
