Working Out...before or after I eat breakfast?

I've been trying to live a healthier life and I have been doing this by exercising in the mornings and having a really good breakfast. I always work out before I eat. Should I be working out after I eat? Does it even make a difference?

I suggest you to do exercise after you eat your breakfest, because the muscles need energy and some strenth for sport activity. After you eat your breakfest, rest for about 30 minuts and do some streching. If you do exercise right away, your stomach will be hurt.

experts say to eork out before you eat breakfast because this jump starts you metoblism, that way it is working high power when you eat breakfast.

you should work out after meals because if you do it before then what calories are you burning. then you eat and those calories just sit there. so work out after eating so the calories from breakfast don't just sit there and turn into fat.

Well, obviously, working out right after you eat probably is harder on you and not the best for your digestion. I really do think that what you are doing by working out first thing is great! It should also help to build up your appetite for your breakfast. And it is good that you are getting a nice, healthy breakfast, as well, since I was reminded of how important that meal can be for a person by a very informative post on here the other day! *laugh*

Are you trying to burn fat or just trying to be active and stay healthy? My husband was told by a trainer that IF you're trying to burn fat it's best to exercise first thing in the morning before you eat and last thing at night before bed. This get's your body in the mode to burn the fat that is already there and then when you eat it will automatically want to use up what your taking in. Then at night when you go to bed after exercising your body will burn fat/calories while you rest. Of course, always do a good stretch from head to toe before and after your workout. If you're not trying to lose weight but just stay active it is better to eat a light meal before your workout so it gives you energy.

If you're working out first thing in the morning or have a somewhat strenuous workout, you might want to eat at least a little something beforehand. This way you're not making your body expend extra energy when you don't have any in the tank, because you haven't eaten for hours. If you feel tired or faint when you work out, you should definitely consider getting some food in you. But everyone's different; if you feel OK when you work out and aren't too fatigued, you can probably keep doing what you're doing.

I'm not a breakfast person. A glass of water and then I go do chores which is my workout. I have read that if you eat before a workout you are using fat to fuel your body. I think I read that in Body for Life, can't remeber who wrote it. I can't work with a full tummy, I'd rather eat after I'm done.

I always found that walking was better after I had eaten. Walking is the form of exercise that i enjoy the most. I found that if I walked before I ate, i got lightheaded more often

It all depends on what you get to eat. If the breakfast happens to be to heavy, I believe you should try to go for lighter exercises to put on practise after having it. If the breakfast's light then I think you should have no problems doing any kind of physical exercise withouth feeling any stomach related pains. But yeah, I think that exercise should always be done after breakfast because you have more calories and energies to be burnt than when working out with an empty belly.
