Well first of all, every single person has an ego .. it's part of the human psyche. It's neither good nor bad, it just is. What I assume you mean is are they more conceited .. full of themselves ... obnoxious ... whichever word you want to use.
And the answer is no.
Independence is solely the practice of caring for yourself. How does that define conceit? I work for my money, I pay my own bills, I rely on myself to get by in life. That doesn't define me as having an over inflated ego, it simply means that noone else is responsible for caring about my well being and lifestyle but me.
In fact, the opposite would be closer to the truth. There are many women, and men, who don't want to take care of themselves and assume another person should .... those would be the ones with the over inflated egos.
