Im not professional guitarists but i could give you some advice... i say a lot of "patience" and "hardwork"... it'll help you a lot and mistakes happens a lot. It feels so good when people see you perform, appreciate and get wasted. Im proud of what im doing right now.

just like in anything else, practice makes perfect. i agree with you, it takes patience and lot of hardwork to succeed in anything, and that includes playing any instrument. i, myself, have studied piano for more than 20 years!
