According to Indian philosophy, a human has to undergo four stages in his life, if he is to really fulfil it.
1. bachelorhood
2. householdership
3. forestdweller
4. monkhood.
No. 1 and 2 everybody completes. For living in forests, people can either go alone or can take spouse. Other jhamjhaat`ams (encumbrances like sons and daughters, grandsons and grand-daughters) should not accompany. Most of the forests have depleted due to indiscriminate felling of trees. Rivers have become cess pools of dirt. There are no fruits for trees. Land mafia goons, contractors and politicians, occupied forest lands. Even caves are crowded. Where to go for solitary contemplation or meditation?

Oh My Goodness! Look around you - you can meditate anywhere! Solitary contemplation need not be in a forest or sitting on the shores of an ocean. Go to your favorite park; sit in your bath tub! Close all the curtains in your favorite room, put on your favorite music and let your mind dream. Do not buy into the negative forces around you. You make your life choices - do not be discouraged. Where I live nature abounds, it is noisy at night with tree frogs; noisy with various bird life in the daylight; bugs of all descriptions; predators and prey. I do not have the city life noise; that is one of the reasons I moved here in Arkansas. I live in the Ozark Mountains. Listen to nature; she can teach us a lot.
