For Those That Pray, Do You Say A Prayer Before Meals In Public?

I was wondering if those of you who do pray say a meal before meals at home and out in public.
My family will most often hold hands out in the restaraunt and say a short prayer before meals. We don't remember all the time, but we generally do this. At home when we sit as a family or have a bunch of friends/family over, we will say a prayer too - we don't usually hold hands at home, but do out in public - maybe because we are closer and better able to do this.
I wonder what other people think when they see us doing this . . do they think to say a prayer of their own, or be thankful for the meal, or do they think this is an odd thing? Let me know your thoughts on this -- was curious what effect (positive or negative) seeing a family do this would have on you.

We don't pray before meals but I have friends that do and we always give them that time when we are out or having a meal at my house. Just because I don't do it doesn't mean that someone should forgo their beliefs. This is usually followed up by one of them saying, "You heathens are all going to hell, pass the potatoes". They never preach at us but they are forever trying to get us to join in. "It takes 30 seconds, you can hold your breath for 30 seconds ..."

lmfao! I'm sorry, that's kinda funny ^_^
I don't pray at meals either generally, though it depends on the situation..if I haven't eaten a real meal in a long time -- and being a dreamer who writes her books alot of the time, it happens more than once in a blue moon -- I'll say a small one in my mind. Or if it's a really special occasion, like Lammas I will too.
But normally I won't, I figure it'd kinda annoy the powers that be or whoever everyone prays to if they get prays for EVERY single meal. I always imagined them going
"I know you're thankful *grumble, grumble*"
Heh.

I do say prayers before meals in public. My 4 year old goes to a daycare run by a church and they say a prayer before eating. He has taught me and my other children the prayer. He always stops us and makes us pray before we eat. Just this weekend we went to a restaurant and he had use pray outloud before we eat. It would not bother me if I saw a family praying before they eat, that shows their love for the Lord. They are not afraid to pray to him in front of others.

Honestly, no we don't. Generally this only happens when we are at families homes visiting on holidays. It was something that neither my husband nor I were brought up to do, so we just don't.
As for what I think of a family doing this, that is their choice. I think that if they are strong enough to stand up for what they believe, and want to pray and hold hands in public, that is wonderful. With all of the anti-religion talk anymore, a lot of families would rather not to avoid any nasty looks or comments.

WE try to do it. Even though we are in such a hurry to eat we tend to forget. Often I find myself with a mouth full of food and thinking a quick prayer.

i does! even a single prayer will do. i say a little player before i eat in a public place, even with so many people around. its also good, for those people around to be reminded to thank God for the blessings they will going to eat before they start to take it.
