Tell white lies or tell the truth?

Sometimes we people have done something wrong and we do white lies, for us not to argue anymore, to shorten the high temperature, or just end up the scenarios that we created. Other preferred they just want to tell the truth,for relaying or saying white lie is still a lie and it is a negative thing for them. White lies sometimes smoothen the scenarios some are not, But saying the truth is a good deed. In your opinion what do you prefer?

as for the little things. lying can be an option too. you went out with your friends and you honestly forgot about a date with you boyfriend or girlfriend for your monthsary. you'd rather tell your love that you had to attend a very important meeting with your classmates. you don't want him/her to be sad because you forgot an important event in your lives.
i think in every rule there is an exception. while HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY, sometimes being honest can lead you to disaster. just take for instance when a man is being chased by armed men and he hid somewhere and you know exactly where. the poor man is battered. the armed men ask you where he went. would you tell them?? of course you won't. sometimes its better to lie to save a life.

You are right, sometimes lying can save you or others, but we know for sure that lying is one bad deed. once we tell the truth it can save us from up there you know,but as your example,youre right, i wouldnt tell the armed men for he will be harmed ,because you tell the truth to them. well its our free will. thanks
