I can not believe how many computers I have gone through in the past twenty years but it's a large number. I gave some to my friends that didn't have computers but I learned that there is a real lack of computers in a lot of schools so I found a place that rebuilds computers for schools.
This place was run by our local phone company, which really impressed me. I even joined them with my computer class students to volunteer but also it gave my students a much better understanding of computer hardware.
What do you do with your old computers?

It is ok if your pc is not too old.
There come a time though when the pc is too old to run modern software and it is not worth upgrading.

I have never heard of this. No I do not donate my old computer to schools. In this age of identity fraud I would be leary of this. I just bought a new computer and my old one I had all of the info erased and then reloaded- so it was clean.. or so they explained to me. I then took it to goodwill. Our school had alot of new computers.. but the suggestion is a great one.
I wonder if they do that in the U.S.

Identity theift is a scary thing but we have software that especially design just to wipe hard drives completely. We get a lot governemnt computers with very delicate info and they all get totally erased.
It is a great opportunity to help those that need it.
