What is .MIDI ?

I am asking about the .midi/.mid file format sound which we use in mobiles and computers.

A MIDI is a type of Sound File that only contains the data for calling the sounds, In a mobile the MIDI sounds are stored in it so that when you play a MIDI file it calls those sounds that you wanna here, in a Computer, it works the same, sound files are stored in the Computer, the MIDI file calls them to be played, It happens when you open that MIDI file, the file extensions could be .midi, or .mid to be recognized by a Media Player.
