I saw Casino Royale and I have to say I loved it as a spy movie and hated it as a Bond film. Bond movies are formula movies, they just are. This movie not only didn't use the formula but openly mocked it. In trying to describe Bond before he was Bond what they did was really violate the memory of Bond. I mean so much of our love is based on nostalgia that to really not deal with Bond that way is to me almost offensive. I loved Craig in Layer Cake, but he fuctions better in the Guy Ritchie style of movie-making than he will ever in a Bond movie. Think back on the men who played Bond. They have all been very good looking. While Craig does have those deep blue eyes, he's not a Pierce Brosnan or Sean Connery. His style is very cold and pretentious. He simply has a different vibe than the other Bonds. My thoughts, what are yours?
