Hello myLot, I was wondering if anyone here ever watched Early Edition, the TV show. It was on in the late 90's I guess. It's one of my favorite shows. It's about a man named Gary Hobson) who gets tomorrow's newspaper today. Since he knows what's going to happen tomorrow, he tries to stop bad things from happening. I think it's a brilliant idea for a TV show, and of course, looking at him wasn't so bad either...... He was played by (oops, I forgot it) it's the guy that's the coach of Friday Night Lights. If you watched it, what did you like the most about it? Who do you think Gary should have ended up with? Tell me more!

I love this show. Just imagine trying to change the events to prevent future events from happening? the burden? OR the power???? If i were in his place i would probably keep the newspaper for myself and then start passing myself off as a modern 'nostradamus'.. then people will be mesmerized and i'd get tv and/or radio deals. celebrity clients, etc. Then if i'm feeling guilty already, i'll try to change a bad thing from happening. but only when i feel guilty. But when you think about it, why would you feel guilty? it was meant to happen, so why change the course of the future... BUT if you know changing the future would be profitable, then why not? hahaha.

That's an interesting way to look at it. The first thing I would do with the paper is use it for the lottery to pay off my debts and be able to live comfortably without having a job so I could do it. Heck, I'd start up my own business, get it going great and let someone else run the day-to-day operations, and I'll just collect the money. That way I'll have the money I need to keep me going and then I could start helping others. Although, I'm sure if I read about something horrible, I'd do whatever I can do to try to stop it. Though, I don't think I could have stopped 9/11 from happening, but I'd sure try as hard as possible to have done so.

It's like when Gary finds that other guy that has the paper form NY or something and sees how differently he uses the paper. I guess everyone has their own way of doing things. Thanks for posting.

I brought a 5-episode dvd from somebody from ebay. I watched it and it looked like it was recorded straight from the tv; the word "PAX" is on the lower right hand side of the screen. I did read somewhere that in order to get tv shows on dvd, they have to get permission to use the music from the show, and pay the artist for use of the music.

evlo, I didn't know that. I thought that once the show was made, they could re-use it for that purpose. That sounds like a lot of work just to get something out on DVD.

I've seen it online on DVD, but not from anywhere that I've actually heard of before. I won't buy something online unless I know it's from a reputable site. Heck, if they can put Punky Brewster on DVD, why the heck can't they put Early Edition on DVD?

hi there.i like early edition very much, and especially gary.he is he best and he is put on a hard try by life:first his wife lefts' him, then he loses his house and on day a the paper of tomorow appears on his door.i don't think i would want to know the future, but if i had the chance to know it,i do exactly like harry:change it.he is very nice and shy.i saw him in "lions gate"and he plays a different character he isn't shy.i can't imagine him another way but shy.i think he deserves a better life, but that depends on him and on the girl he chooses as a partner.

I know exactly what you mean. I've tried to watch a couple of episodes of Friday Night Lights, the new series he's in, and I just can't get into it. There's just too much sports stuff in the way. Now, if he was wearing those tight pants too, that would be a different story all together. Awaiting it to come to DVD.

I remember watching the show and really enjoying it also but it was so long ago I only remember Gary lol .It wasn't one of my channels so a friend would tape it for us and we would watch a couple of shows together in one night . I remember that his friends always wanted to see the paper to try and get the either the numbers for the lottery or to bet on horses or something . And was this the one where he had a friend that was blind . I remember he had a cat that was always sitting on his paper lol . The weird things you remember about a show .

It's definitely weird what you remember. Marissa was the name of the blind friend. I don't recall if the cat had a name or not though.

I loved the Early Edition too. It was a neat idea, and something nice to watch when nothing else was on tv. I kinda miss it now lol. It makes me wish I liked Friday Night Lights 'cause I miss seein' the actor..he's been in a few other things I've watched and he's just got a different style than some other actors do. *shrugs* I don't know what I liked most about it. Maybe the background about how he atually got his newspaper..the cat, how his friends often helped him save the day..and how he eventually adjusted his life so that he didn't have such a hard time working with the newspaper to help people.

Cool! Thanks for the post! I loved it, well, first of all because of Kyle Chandler, and second of all, because it's better to watch that type of show than ones with all the gore/violence. (Although I do watch those shows too)I really miss it. I can't get into Friday Night Lights either, unfortunately. I'm not a football person. I thought I could get over it, but it's just too much football for me.

This is one of my favorite shows ever. The premise was original, the characters were entertaining, and each episode is always a pleasure to watch. It has a mixture of everything. Comedy, drama, suspense, action. And the ending is always a surprise, you never know how Gary will solve a problem. It really sucks they had to end the show! :( I wonder if they can "reboot" it? Gary Hobson can be the "mentor" to the new main character.

Wow this thread is already two years old. I've currently watching the the rerun of this show in cable. This is my boyfriend's favorite show. It is a great show, the concept is original. At first I thought that Gary is an angel who has a mission on Earth but I'm wrong and it made the story much better, an ordinary person trying to save lives and change the future due to extraordinary circumstances.

Hello friend. This show has it's fans, and i just corrupted my girlfriend into watching it with me. I can't find it anywhere on dvd, i even searched the amazon sites for the full series, but i did manage to find it on torrents... so until it gets on dvd's we will watch it like this. I love this serial, and i used to wait impatiently every week's new episode when i was a kid.
