Shrek promised to help my cousin who took a job that was too big for him. He arranged cover for 3 weeks, which we had to pay for and cancelled our holiday to help him another week. Flash then managed to stretch 3 more weeks out of it.
He has been paid for most of the work but there is still money outstanding as he has not provided a proper bill yet so the client will not pay more.
Shrek gave Flash his invoice at the start of December.
Shrek is 4 weeks wages and materials out of pocket. All the money so far Flash has kept and has not paid Shrek or his nephew a penny.
Flash told me he'd only had £1000 and the client told me he's had a cheque for £4500, Shrek checked Flashs paperwork and he has.
Flash says we have to wait for the client to pay.
We have now waited 7 weeks. What would you do?

I would now take it further on the Legal Side Family or not it is beside the Point this is Buisness nothing to do with Family and if he is willing to rip of his Family then you have every right to take the proper proceedures to get your Money so Tell Shrek get the legal Side involved and tell your Cousin nothing personal just Buisness

Flash is just so annoying, he really thinks it's ok to not pay people who've helped him. Over the years we have saved his home many times and helped him when no-one else would but he can do this.
I can't even speak to him at the moment due to the lies he's told more than the money even.
We lived on savings over Christmas but cannot do it forever, luckily Shrek is due to finish another contract in a couple of weeks but that doesn't give Flash the right to put us in a situation where if our present client doesn't pay we could face problems.
Shrek always pays people on his jobs even before he has been paid and has done this for Flash many times.
We've been told it's ok because it's family so he knows we won't take him to court but Friday is the final deadline and Shrek will do it.
Next time he's in a mess we will not be there to get him out of it.
Families eh, it's like that saying never work with children or animals, lol

He will, there's a principal involved somewhere. Of course we have no news and the meeting with the client is still not happening til next weekend now, shame we will be taking leagal advice next Monday. He is on an until Friday again, I just want him to never work for Shrek again. I know Shrek will never do him another favour and he has prooved all we have done for him over the years means nothing because he lied to me.
I wish I could be calm, Shrek didn't even tell me because he knew I'd go hairless and he's right, I can think of loads of bad things I know that could childishly cause him a lot of trouble but I will content myself with telling people how he has behaved and see how he gets on withour our help. Nasty Rainbow, lol

I would stop helping him and take him to small claims court to get your money back. Make sure you have all your receipts to back up your claim. Good luck and take this as a lesson learned in not dealing with this person again. Unless you are paid up front.

The joys of having a family eh?
Shrek keeps delaying as Flash is my cousin but it's gonna have to be a trip to the solicitor, he's using the fact that I am his cousin as a way to be awful to Shrek which affect my whole family.
I have already washed my hands of him and will neverloan him anything again but poor Shrek is so stressed as we are being made to feel as if we are being cruel asking for his wage from the job.
We have all Shreks expenses and will be seeing the solicitor next week if it is not resolved. It's a pretty mean trick, he hasn't paid his nephew yet either, shrek always pays everyone else he shares jobs with before he gets anyting for himself.
I will never allow him to work with Shrek again and Shreks mates won't have him n site at the minute so he's going to loose work and is not doing himself any favours..
Thank-you so much for your support.

Hi rainbow, just wanted to know the outcome of this issue since this discussion was posted 2 weeks ago. I hope everything is settled and Shrek has gotten the money back. I hate issues which concerns money especially when other people are involved, which is why I am not so willing to lend money to people, and neither do I like to borrow. Take care.

Hi sweetie, Thank-you so much for your concern!
Unfortunately although there has been a lot of talk my cousin has not yet come up with Shreks 4 weeks wages, we are going to the solicitor this week, Shrek gave him his bill in November and we cannot afford to be patient any more, basically my cousin is now not talking to me as he thinks we are being unreasonable. When I think of all the times we have had to help him out it makes me sooo angry, I will not allow Shrek to work with him again and we will no longer keep him in work, he has really messed up as even Shrek is coming to the end of his patience.
