Ok, so it's an unusual hobby and often reviled, but Live Action Role Play or LARP can be one of the most rewarding hobbies. Unfortunately, LARP has received some pretty poor press in the past, not the least being an inference that role players are all into some kind of strange *bedtime* practice:-)
LARP is only an extension of the table top and computer games played by thousands, dungeons and dragons but rather than sitting in front of a screen pressing buttons, you dress the part, act the part and interact as your character with hundreds of other characters.
So, how many other people out there enjoy live action role play?

My personal favorite description for LARP is "Dungeons and Dragons meets Reenactment, but infinatly more fun".
I think alot of the problems with the bad press is they hear "roleplay" and automatically think of "bedroom activities" and then hear it's a group event in a field, which just adds to the problem. Then when they actually go out and investigate it further, they just can't take it seriously.

This has happened on many occasions, when you tell someone you are *into role playing* they tend to look at you funny and raise their eyebrows.
A few years ago a film crew came to film some *live action role play* and found themselves very disappointed when they found a bunch of nutters at a cave system in South East England.
