Have you ever met a popstar? Spoken to a famous actor? Or met anyone famous? Have you been on radio or tv? What is your claim to fame?
A few years ago I used to be a paid movie extra. After some minor films I finally got to do one with Patrick Bergin and was "literally" bowled over by him when as a detective giving chase he hit into me and sent me flying. He came back over to me after the scene and apologised. I was so thrilled!!! He's really lovely.

Well I havn't met any celebs as such, though i was in the same pub as Ocean Colour Scene (that music band). They were signing stuff and my dad knew the owner of the pub they were going to after so only my sister, dad and I were the only ones allowed in. That Sean Moncreef(?) the presenter of Don't feed the gondalas was born up the road from me, Tommy Tiernan went to the boy's school in my town, Hector spent a summer in my aunt's garden in a caravan on the Aran islands when he was learning Irish...my cousin is in a famous Australian U2 tribute band (http://www.achtungbaby.com.au - he's the drummer)...and my sister has met Freddie Fjungberg (Arsenal player and Calvin Klein model), and when she was in L.A. she spotted Beyonce and Michael Jackson! O and she also met Jessica Lansbury (she loves Murder she wrote!) while working with her company doing a promo.

Well, that's rather a lot of claims actually, and to have an aunt living on the Aran Islands is the best claim to fame ever. :D

Excellent. That's really great. I remember Ryan Tubridy used to pick a house to do his show in. I would have loved to have done that.

No but I did meet and for many years write to Robert Franklin Leslie author of "The Bears and I" which was a Walt Disney move in the early 1980's. I met him three times. He was my mentor and we had started co-authoring a book togather when he had a massive stroke causing him to go blind. I still have the unfinished manuscript and thinking of finishing it. I first meet him when he was about my age now 55 or so and I was 18 and had written poetry and short stories. He came to see my parents because he had heard we had a pet deer and some pet crows. He did write about my family and our pets in a book titled "Wild Pets" My brother Don is in the book with our pet crow Hungry Jack on his head. Though his name says Dave who was my other brother. I wrote to him off and on for years and he encouraged me in my writings and stories and told me I had a unique talent. I visited him in his home and Sherman Oaks, CA. in the mid 1980's and he came to my home again to begin work on our book which is not yet finished.

Oh, that's a lovely story and very sad too. You should really try hard to finish writing that book. It would be great.

When I was about 7yrs old I was took tap and ballet classes. When we had recidals we would go to the town theater and perform. While we were getting ready one time our teacher came in and said that Whoopi Goldberg had heard about the recidle and loved watching kids doing these kind of things that she had to come and watch. We were all like O....M....G, let me tell you I actually saw her sitting right in the front row and she was sitting right in front of me.
After the show and we were changing we heard alot of people coming to the area where our group was changing. She asked who the little girl was who was right in front of her. Well all of my friends looked right at me and she knew. As soon as she saw me she said "Yep you are the one I remember. You did an excelent job thank you for entertaining me for a change." She shook my hand and all I could say was your welcome.

Met with and spoke to Lori Martin who starred in the National Velvet tv series in the 1960s. She was a snobby actress, even though she was a teenager and not really a prominent personality. When I was about 12 or so, my mom took me to the SF International Film Festival and we had Gregory Peck autograph our copy of "To Kill A Mockingbird." He was a charming, modest man. In 1964 or '65, when the Beatles came to SF, some girlfriends and I sneaked into the Hilton Hotel and tried to find where the Beatles' room was. We ran into their roadie, talked to him and got his autograph.

Wow, to meet Gregory Peck must have been amazing. I hope you framed your copy of To Kill a MockingBird.

I was one of the 3 background (not the group) singers for the 1970s pop group, "The 3 Degrees". Their one hit wonder: "When Will I See You Again" was recently used on an American Express commercial and is still heard occasionally on radio stations all over after 35 years.

I've met and spoken with Hank Williams, Jr., jammed with Charlie Daniels while he was practicing for my university's concert, met Pat Kennedy (JFK's sister) Shriver, the head of the US Special Olympics, soon after I qualified to teach aquatics and tennis. I have been on the now defunct Jenny Jones and Sally Jessie Rapheal shows, also.

I met Princess Diana at Klondyke Days in the city near where I live.
We were both near the BBQ and she said you smell lovely. What are you wearing? I asked her the same question and she told me she wore Diorissimo.
I went and bought some the next day

I once spoke to George Foreman, the boxer, on the phone. I worked for the American Express company at the time. Really nice man, a real gentleman. Oh yeah, I also spoke to Phillip Bailey of Earth, Wind and Fire on the phone (if anyone remembers those guys). I also attended college with Sandra Bullock (you'd be surprised!) She's about a year or two younger than me. We both studied acting at the same university.

Is that the same George Foreman who has the grills named after him?
Imagine studying with Sandra Bullock. Do you still act?

I have done a few things.
I was also an extra in a few movies. I was in Miss Congeniality, The New Guy, and The Rookie.
I was also on the Today Show once. My cousin used to work on the Today show and he got me and a friend of mine on TV once with the weather. That was fun.

Are you able to see yourself in those films? It's even more exciting when you can see yourself, isn't it? I've only seen myself in one film for about 3 seconds at the very end. :)

Can't really think of anyone that I have met that is famous, my wife however mistook Marti Pellow for a Taxi Driver, when she was visiting our daughter, Marti was a visitor to her next door neighbour.
I was in our local Woolworths store and asked to take part in a training film they were making, never got to see it though.
Part of the film 'Shallow Grave' was filmed in the hospital that I work in, but didn't meet any of the cast.
I have also watched them filming some scenes for Taggart but not allowed to go close enough to be part of it.
Why not continue to be an extra, could that not lead you to be a proper film star in due course?

Aw Eskimo, your life is full of near misses with famous stars. :)
Unfortunately, being an extra is only marginally better paid than being a MyLotian.

Wow, that is brilliant! I just did a search for Tony Romeril on the net and found a couple of different bands. I wonder is it the same person?

My only claim to fame is the once I appeared on the local news...basically you saw me walk across the screen for maybe 2 seconds.
Pretty pathetic huh?

LOL! Well at least you didn't make a show of yourself by jumping up and down in front of the camera. Honestly I cringe when I see people doing that - jumping up and down behind the reporter and waving like mad. And it's not just kids. It's adults do it too.

my claim of fame was that i once help catch a robber as he was
fleeing from the police. I gave chase, hurt myself but was commended by the chief of police.
Till now, i have the scars to prove it.
I certainly wish i have the cert but no, they never give it.

I guess this counts even though it's kind of embarrasing, but Nelly tried to sleep with me once...well actually he hit on me backstage at one of his concerts and invited back to the hotel.
I didn't go though.

I met and had a drink with Alan Thicke and have had drinks with various members of the Indianapolis Colts & Pacers in the late 90s and I once partied with Smash Mouth. When I was a kid, I met Ray Walston at Disney World. Also met and got autographs from the members of DeGarmo & Key.
I bet that was cool meeting Patrick Bergen.

You must be a bit of a celebrity yourself with all the concerts you've been to and all the people you've met. wow! I was just so surprised that Patrick Bergin came back and apologised for knocking me over. I felt like asking him to hit off the other shoulder then. LOL!

So neat to have met someone like that. Myself, I met some professional bowlers. I used to bowl and one year the professional bowlers tour came through the town I was living in and my association asked some of us to keep score for them. It was so much fun and they were so neat to see in person. I even got to dance after the days events with Purvis Granger. So much fun! Thanks for this trip down my memory lane today!!

Not been as lucky(?) as you in being bowled over by someone famous but I have met someone who I have held in high esteem as a sports personality for many years.
I was at a seminar and the speaker was Henry Cooper and it was just after his 4th round knockdown of Mohammed Ali in 1963.
He of creditable fame as the man to put Ali on the seat of his pants with the greatest left hook ever thrown by an English boxer.
I was introduced to him but turned down the opportunity of shaking his right hand but asked if we could shake left handed so I could touch that magic hand.
He being the gentleman he is smiled and the deed was done the closest my hand had ever come to Ali's jaw!

I met Nigel Mansell at a UK motor show ages ago. I wished him good luck for a race he was driving in shortly after. Half way through that race he crashed - well, i guess i put the jinx on that!!
When I was a kid, my parents took me out to Windsor Great Park for the day, we were walking up the long drive in front of the castle. I was looking at the castle to see if 'you know who' was in - i wasnt paying attention to anything else but the castle - when one of my parents shouted at me to get out of the way of the car that was right behind me - it was 'you know who'! I nearly got run over by THE QUEEN!!!
