I was diagonosed with Bi-polar several years ago, but I was still stugging with it. I finally talked to my family doctor about it and he refered me to another doctor. I finally got on some medicine that really works and I have seen a world of difference! I am on Lamictal. I was on Effexor as well, but it made my blood presure sky rocket so I was taken off. I also found out that I have anxiety attacks so I was given Xanax for that and Ambien to help me sleep. I feel like a totally different person. If anyone has any suggestions or concerns about these medicines, please let me know....

Hi,
My husband is Bi polar and I have depression and anxiety attacks. He is on Depakote, Geodon and Paxil. I am on Lexapro and a few other meds but they are for other things. The meds my husband is on were helping him really good at first but we think they need adjusted because he has been having a lot of down days. I was on Wellbrutrin and it worked very good for me but quit working after 2 years. So my doctor put me back on Lexapro (I was on this first) and it seems to be helping more than it did the first time around. I have heard of Effexor but have never been on it. I have never heard of Lamictal though. Maybe my husband ought to try this since these other pills aren't working as good as they used to. My mother n law is on Xanax and has been on them for awhile now. They help her pretty good. I am glad these are working out for you because it is hard to find the right medication. :)

I was on effexor, years ago, for anxiety and depression, and that stuff made me absolutely loopy. It didn't work for me either. I was on Remeron for a while for depression and to help me sleep, and that worked for as long as I needed it. I'm not on it anymore. I don't need it.
