Can you describe your own perceptions of Hell? How did you arrive at these conclusions?

Hell is the greek translation of the Hebrew woord Gehenna: the ravine just below Jeruzalem where the city's offal was/is incenirated. So it's a real place.

I believe the word means 'the pit' or something similar, so maybe it could refer to another place which is not an earthly geographical feature. I think the imagery of this description was used in the scriptures because the readers would be able to relate to it. I don't think we are supposed to think Hell is actually in Israel...

Am I your muse now then?! Well when I visited the seven circles, the outer circle was a bunch of annoying stuff like political canvassers. The rabbit I used to have was there too - was having to chase it to get it back in its hutch as it was a bit of a Houdini. Further in, there was a chain gang of celebrities and lots of twisty steps like in Labyrinth, only stone, and at the centre was a door guarded by Cerberus. I took a leaflet from the political chap just to see what kind of policies they have in Hell but his pet goat came over and ate it. I called the canvasser back and said, 'I've got your goat' and then fell about laughing at my amusing pun!

Have we gone back to the hallucination thread without me knowing? - most a-'muse'-ing. Thank you for your contribution.
Personally, I would imagine that although the canvassers were in the outer circle, the real politicians will be ensconced in the arms of the cloven-hoofed one himself...

Well some believe Hell to be fire and brimestone but my understanding of hell based on the Christian faith is that if one goes to hell for eternity it is spent without the presence of God.
Apparently this is an experience one does not want to have for an eternity.
