i do not have a baby boy, but if i had, i'd have him circumsized really young to prevent the effect of trauma. i heard from a teacher that this is the way to go because circumcision is necessary for a clean male genital area.

My son's pediatrician told us that having him circumsized is not nessacery but that it could prevent him from getting STD's at an older age. I'd say that the younger the better when it comes to that.

I had my sons done right after he was born. My husband and I had gone head to head about if we had a male child if we would have it done. My husband is circumsized and so is my son from a previous marriage. If we did decide to have kids and had a boy, I would want him circumsized as well. Supposedly, the number of circumsized males is dropping, but it still is not considered normal. I would rather save him the embarassment when he got older.

You should do it right after birth! Or not at all! I have 4 boys and all but one was circumsized right after birth. The one that was not was almost a week old before his was done and OMG it's HORRIBLE! I never, ever want to witness that again! He cried, I cried, I cried some more! It was horrible.

My son was not circumcised, and my grandsons weren't simply because my famild sees no reason to have it done. I took the first 2 years of the RN program and had to hold a baby that was being circumcised. He was screaming and fighting andwas in obvious pain. And he was only done because Daddy was done and they wanted him to match. If you are going to do it, the younger the better since newborn infants heal faster than bigger boys
