What do you think about the workers unions these days?? Do you think they are actually working for all of the rights of the workers or working to keep the deadbeats in a good paying job while the other members work hard and get their jobs done. I think the unions were good in their time, but now tend to make things worse for our economy with the raises as i think raises should be merit based.

This is one of my gripes right now. My husband has worked for a company for 16 1/2 years and was layed off. Allthe employs with the most time was let go and the ones with the least time ai still working. The union said they are within thier rights. My husband asked them are you working for us who pays you are the company.
Tomorrow some of the employs are going to Chicago to file a greivence against the Union and the company.
My husband never misses work and he gets 3 weeks vacation a year and might take one week. So nope in this case they are not working for the employs.

There's a saying that goes "Unions are only as strong as their weakest member". That goes to show you that as long as people remain united and use the union to its benefit and for the right reasons the union remains an asset. When there is abuse of the system, intolerance of leadership, etc. and the union begins to crumble it becomes a bad thing often supporting the worse of it's members.
