Billiards: 8 ball, 9 ball or snooker?

What's your favorite game style when it comes to billiards? The traditionals 8 ball and 9 ball, or a strategic snooker match-up? I personally prefer 8 ball because it's the one I've played more times and it's also the one most people know, so we always end up playing that one in-between my friends group. What's your pick?

i prefer 9 ball. coz the winner is the one who can shoot the ball number 9 to the hall. I'm not a good billiard player but usually i get lucky to play this. i remember to play 9 ball with a friend. he shooted more balls than me, but in the end i was the one who put the ball number 9 to the hole ^^

Haha, that's the reason why I don't enjoy 9 ball so much. It's the most friendlier game for the people who are not so talented, thus being not very thrilling for people who can really play lile me :P It's the most unfair sort of pool match, for sure.

Good to see someone mention snooker at last! It's the hardest one, but probably also the most challenging one. Thanks for your reply.

I love playing 8 ball rather than 9 ball. It's more exciting.

Yeah, agreed. It's certainly more lenghty 99% of the time as well and requires a bigger strategy to be envolved with and whatever not. But snooker still tops these 2! Thanks for your reply cutepie.

I'm a disaster playing each one of the billiard games, but I like a lot to see people that are pro playing. Lately I'm seeing in eurosport the Malta cup in snooker, and is amazing watch that guys playing. The one I like more is snooker it requires to much strategy and precision.

Yeah, I also like to watch the professionals every once in a while around Eurosport :) And agreed, snooker is the most serious out of the three. Thanks for your reply.

I've always enjoyed 8 ball the most but am willing to try each and every type of pool there is. I love the game. I find it fun to play 9 ball or snooker once in awhile to switch it up.

first of all, snooker is not billiards, its a different cue sport. but anyway, i've played snooker and been horrrible at it, its mostly defense and very few people, and i mean very few, can run the table. i prefer nine ball because positioning is the most important aspect of the game. i love nine ball because you really are playing the game against yourself, not your opponent. at high levels you have to run all nine balls, not just the first 4 or 5. if you miss on the 7, and the other player runs out, you lost the game and you deserved to lose. the great thing about nine ball is that at high levesl when both players can run out, no one ever wins a game, you just lose them. there's so much pressure and so much patience is required because it doesn't matter how many balls you can make, it only matters how much you can minimize your mistakes. the game is actually scored in mistakes, the player who makes the fewest is the player who wins. this obviously only applies to the game at high levels of play.
