T.V and your children ....

How many hours a day do you allow your children to watch television and do you monitor what you allow them to watch ? When my older kids were younger they did not watch much television at all but my three year old is obsessed with the show Dora and would watch it all day if we would allow her too . Although when my other children were her age I did not want them to watch television I do notice that my three year old watches a lot more then they ever did and she is quite a bit smarter then they ever were . She only watches educational shows but the difference in what she knows and what they knew is unbelievable . For instance my daugther came to me about a month ago and said she wanted to learn ( she says this all the time when she wants you to teach her something ), she wanted me to read a math book to her , when I told her you couldn't read a math book she got very upset with me so I said fine and starting throwing math quetion at her and she got all the answers right , now mind you it was only one plus one and two plus two etc . but she knew all the answers . I was stunned , we did not teach her this so she must have got it from televison . What do you think?

I allow my child to watch television as long as it's educational were she could learns alot everyday after her school until evening. even she has a homeworks to do or if she have exams the following days. our television at home is non-stop because that is her way where she can easily memorize and can answer her homeworks. :)

My kids are 12,8 and 7 now so I don't monitor their time on the t.v. as much as I did when they were younger. They are have very active social lives and love to spend time outdoors, so I have no fears of them becoming couch potatoes. I do monitor the shows they watch, but all in all they're pretty good kids and know what they are allowed to watch and what they are not allowed to watch. :)
