My dad is a great person and a hard worker. One thing I don't really fancy too much about him is the fact that he can be intimidating. It's hard to talk to him, even about everyday things because of his intimidation. I know he doesn't do it on purpose. It's just the way he is.

approach him in a friendly way when he is not too stressed out, make it casual, hey, dad, you know when you're....etc etc, please dad take me seriously, why do you think you're like this, you know i think you're a great dad and such a hard worker but i find it a bit intimidating when,,...., how can we solve this, let's have another talk some other time dad and please have a think about this before then, hey, dad, I love you....remember it will be hard for him, he may not be much of a talker, try to get your mum involved too. Offer to do something for him...

I don't like the fact that my dad gets mad when I need him. Say my kids are sick and we were living with him, he would get mad so that you won't ask him for help. When I was in the hospital having my baby cesarean, I was alone, he never visited me. He always makes promises he never keeps. But I love him just the same.

First of all, for the record, I just want to say that I love my dad very much and I appreciate everything he has done and everything he does for me. But he still treats me like a baby, and it's very annoying. I'm almost 18 years old, and I'll pour myself a glass of juice or something and he'll tell me to hold it with both hands when I walk down the stairs. I understand I'm his only child and he doesn't want to let go, but it gets very irritating.

Yes, I understand how you feel, but these seem like small things, couldn't you make a point of doing these the way he expects when living in his house, he obviously does not want you to have an accident.
Talk to your dad about these issues, ask him to realise that you have grown up. I'm glad you expressed your love and respect for him.
