Have you ever started an online buisiness?

I could really use some advice here. I'd like to start a buisiness doing 3d photo realistic images of people, make them into animated screen savers with speach, etc. ( your screen saver would come on with you or your girl friend or wife talking.)I've never started an online buisiness before and was wondering if anyone has exsperiance in that? I need some ideas of where to start,although a web site would be the first place. Also, how can I find out if there would even be a market for that? Is there a way to test a market first? Any help would sure be appreciated !
