How to improve traffic to my site?

Any help on improving traffic to my site? I know that there are lot of paid services for this. I am looking for some approaches that doesn't cost money and also improves good amount of traffic?

You could start a email newsletter in your site where you would send weekly mail to them with great offers, etc. You could also post in forums with theme similar to your site and add your site's url in your signature line and create and respond to useful topics. If you very good at writing, then articles in various articles site and include your name and website address at the end, so that webmasters who are using your article for their site will have your url there and could get decent traffic. Have your URL in your email signature line. Exchange links with other website owners.

The best way to increase traffic to your site is to exchange banners. There are several banner exchange services like www.bannerlinker.com and www.buildtrafficx.com etc. You show the banners of others and others will show your banners. See example at my site: www.khurrum.com
