Fox network is apparently creating a new show called "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" that will air possibly in the spring. Adults will be tested in a quiz based on questions from from elementary school textbooks.
Would you go on such a show? How worried would you be that you might be made to look silly? I mean, I think that what kids are taught in elementary school today is pretty far advanced from what was taught even 10-15-20 years ago. And it's so easy to have by now forgotten a lot of what we learned that far back in school...
Would you watch this show when and if it airs?
Feel free to answer any of the above questions, or just give your thoughts! ^_^

I would love to watch it. I tell you what I watched our Academic Team compete last year (3rd grade thru 5th) and the questions these kids were asked and correctly answered blew my mind. It amazes me the stuff they have to know now in elementary. Then you look at news papers that keep their reading levels close to a 8th level so the majority of adults can read it! That tells me this show will be fun to watch.

I love quiz shows, and yes I would certainly be willing to pit my wits against a fith grader. I may be made to look silly, but it would be very interesting and a bit of fun. I must see if I can get it on my tv when it is aired as I would love to watch it.

You know, I think I would have to watch that show just to see if I would be a person being made a fool of. ha ha
I know 5th grade was a long time ago for me too. And even though I have a great memory, I don't know if I would remember everything from my 5th grade year. AND the fact that kids are learning much more than we were back then, it might just make it tougher! LOL
But I would say, I would have to watch it. ha ha Because I would like to see if I would be able to answer the questions and if I am, I would be sure to impress my little ones....ok, they are not all so little. But if I could beat the older children that are beyong 5th grade, it would be a fun game for us to watch as a family!
Thanks! I am going to have to keep a look out for that show!

I probably am not smarter then a fifth grader. My son is in kinder and is already doing math problem's that I know I did not do until I was in the second grade. School's these day's are advanced compared to twenty year's ago. I would not embarrass myself and go up against a fifth grader.

I'd love to watch this show! It reminds me of JayWalking, when Jay Leno hits the streets and asks all sorts of people easy questions and they either blank out or answer something ridiculous.
I'd be afraid to go on it. Anything to do with Math or History and I'd give a "Deer in the Headlights" look. They'd give me my parting gift of an Encyclopedia, and I'd be sent home.

I think I would really enjoy watching a show like that. I always laugh at the Jay Walking segments on Leno, perhaps this will be more of the same.

A fifth garder is usually smarter because he still is in school and all the things you need to know like helpful school infos are still fresh in his memory. I always find myself saying while watching game shows "If i was in grade school i would have known the answer".

I would probably watch the show and the 5th grader just may be smarter in some aspects these days than me because they are learning new things that i wasnt taught in school.

this would scare me silly, surely they would never do something like that here. Omg imagine trying to re gain credibility in education after losing on something like this programme?
I would certainly watch it, but only to see if anyone i knew was happy to put their career to the sword in this particularly public way

Oh, I would definently watch this show, though I would be afraid to appear on it, because although I find myself highly intelligent, I'd hate to be proven wrong. (;

This is going to make for an interesting game show for sure. I have to admit I didn't always pay attention in school so I don't think I want to go on this game show myself. I pretty sure alot of 5th graders are smarter then me.
