Should teachers carry weapons?

It's been a subject of debate for a while now... Should teachers in schools carry weapons? Would you parents feel your children would be safer? Would you children/teens feel safer if your teachers carried weapons? What do you all think? Honestly, I think it would just be putting weapons in the schools and closer to the kids who might get the idea to use them for something other than safety.

Teachers should not be carrying weapons in school, each school should have armed security guards that are thoroughly checked out before hired.

Thank you both for your responses :) "mentally unhinged" - I've never heard it put quite like that before...

I think there are certain school districts that are dangerous to teachers and students depending on the area. I dont know if carrying a weapon is a good idea, unless they go through training classes on how and when to use it. I think pepper sparay or something of that nature might be a good idea though.

I think it would be a good idea to have select few teachers/workers within a school that are prepared to train up to marksman standards and deal with certain situations essentially retraining though for use in the school. In the event of the increasing psychopaths that seem to invade schools purely on the basis to kill. If they were handled as soon as possible it could go a long way to preventing a stand-off later.

I'm still against teachers carrying weapons. I do believe their should be individualsthere to protect the students, perhaps security guards or another trained law enforcement figure, but teachers should not be the ones with the weapons. It puts the weapons too close to the students. I do think, however, that schools would benefit from the teachers being trained to prevent or stop fights and other situations (without weapons).

teachers should not carry weapon in educational places. Teachers doesnot teaches how to fight but they teaches how to stop fight. and it will also effect the mind of the childrens that their teacher brings weapon in school.

Exactly. It might even make the students feel weapons are okay in a school. And like I said, it would only put weapons that much closer to the students who might intend to use them. Teachers can be trained to rprotect, but it should not be with the use of weapons.
