Why is Valentines day celebrated on feb 14?

We all know that feb 14 is celebrated as valentines day, but i had never ever thought about why was that day so special that it has to be celebrated in such a way... So can anybody please tell me why this is so and what is the reason behind it?

FEB 14 WAS CALLS VALENTINES DAY IN honor of saint Valentine who was born on that day...it is the feast of St.Valentine the saint of lovers

It is the day of the feist for Saint Valentines. Saint Valentines is considered by the Roman Catholics as the saint of love.

Valentine is a person who live for lovers and he gave his life for the lovers so his last day is termed as the valentines day... so now u understand y its been celebrated in feb 14..
